Long overdue update – relocation and more!

It has been a long time since my last update but fortunately this will be a quick but exciting one.

Since October 2024 I have taken up a position at Bath Spa University working as a Teaching Fellow in Music and am happy to announce my official relocation Bristol, United Kingdom.

As a Teaching Fellow, I lecture in guitar and plucked string performance, improvisation, and contextual studies and am so excited about the new programme and the breadth and diversity of our provision. I teach across a range of modules and am loving the wide range of teaching from music and gender to working with the MA Composition students performing their chamber pieces. Getting to know my new colleagues at BSU has been fantastic and I am so lucky to work with such amazing performers, musicologists, composers, and educators.

I am hard at work getting together a new solo programme and am excited to start exploring the Bristol community and running it publicly soon. Covid-19 and some of the instability of its aftermath (which included moving country twice!) and an intentional pivot towards research outputs shaved off a sizeable chunk of my performance capacity.  This new programme includes some old and new music for me, and I am looking forward getting it out there soon.

Lastly, although last summer seems like a distant memory, it wound up being much more productive than I was able to recognise whilst in the middle of it. I sent off two journal articles for peer review around November 2024 and am looking to build on that momentum for a few new writing projects early next year.
